BIB for Cooking Sauce Packaging
Bag-in-box packaging is a format that consists of a flexible bag that contains the product within an outer, corrugated shell. Once mainly utilized for liquids and beverages, the packaging format is becoming increasingly utilized for other more viscous products – and cooking sauce certainly fits.
There are many benefits of bag-in-box packaging. For instance, the flexible bag can be outfitted with fitments and closures that prevent spills and leakage and maximize product evacuation. It’s also an easily stackable packaging format. Flexible bags are also available in bulk sizes for larger amounts of product.
Bag-in-box (BIB) packaging maximizes space savings and ensures maximum evacuation compared to semi-rigid containers, F-style bottles, scooping cooking sauce from pails, or Cubitainer containers. Its collapsible nature allows for efficient use of every last drop of sauce, reducing waste and ultimately lowering costs for the kitchen. Additionally, the streamlined design minimizes the need for bulky storage solutions, freeing up valuable shelf or fridge space for other essential ingredients.
In addition, for the back of the restaurant or in the production facility, bag-in-box offers easy dispensing and dosing of the product. With its convenient tap or spout, whether chefs or in production facilities, they can effortlessly control the amount of cooking sauce they need, minimizing waste and ensuring consistent flavor in every dish. Plus, the compact design of bag-in-box packaging saves valuable storage space, allowing kitchens to optimize their workspace efficiently.
Drum & Pail Liners for Cooking Sauce Packaging
At CDF, we offer drum and pail liners for steel, plastic, fiber, and round-bottom drums. Our liners are thermoformed and heat-sealed to provide optimum product protection, while still enabling reuse of drums and pails. An additional benefit of drum and pail liners is how they streamline efficiency with batch mixing – something that can come in handy for cooking sauce packaging.
40% = 34.7 million tons
According to a Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) study, nearly 40% – or 34.7 million tons – of all produced foods are sent to landfill each year.
Cost Effectiveness
CDF solutions aren’t just sustainable, they’re also cost-effective to boot. Designed to integrate easily with existing equipment and machinery and streamline operations, solutions are intended to help firms save money and help improve their bottom line.
Environmental Impact
All of CDF’s solutions are designed to be mindful of the environment – and IBC liners, bag-in-box, and drum and pail liners are no exception. All the aforementioned formats use less packaging, which means there are fewer resources used during manufacturing and less overall packaging waste goes to landfills. Additionally, these formats contribute to a smaller plastic footprint by using less plastic while maximizing product evacuation and efficiency.
In the case of bag-in-box, the corrugated outer shell is fully recyclable. Bag-in-box is also a stackable packaging format, meaning that it’s easier to store and ship. More packages can fit on fewer truckloads, which helps conserve transportation costs and reduce vehicle emissions.
Smart Pail uses 80 percent less plastic than conventional pails.
At CDF, we pride ourselves on creating mindful packaging solutions that minimize the impact on the environment. Our solutions such as the Smart Pail and part of bag-in-box packaging can be fully recycled, while our other solutions use less material and thereby send less waste to landfills when they’ve reached the end of their life.
Solutions such as bag-in-box can help impact the environment in other ways too. For instance, because the format is stackable, it’s easier to pack more of it onto trucks. This translates to more packages on fewer truckloads, which helps reduce emissions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Some of the most common questions our clients ask us include:
Are CDF bags BPA-free?
Yes, they are BPA-free. All CDF bags used in our Ketchup & Mustard Packaging are BPA-free, complying with the strictest food safety regulations to ensure the well-being of your consumers.
How Long Does Aseptic Packaging Last?
Aseptic technology enables the production of preservative-free, shelf-stable products that can remain fresh for up to 12 months without refrigeration. The utilization of aseptic technology facilitates e-commerce capabilities and the extended shelf life of the products promotes higher consumption and allows for their use in various locations.
Some examples of products that may require the use of aseptic IBC liners include:
1. Fruit juices and concentrates
2. Dairy products such as milk, cream, and yogurt
3. Liquid egg products
4. Syrups and sweeteners
5. Pharmaceutical and medical solutions
Aseptic IBC liners are particularly important for products intended for human consumption or use, as contamination can lead to spoilage, reduced shelf life, and potential health hazards.
What Makes a Liner Aseptic?
The Fitments & Valves:
An IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) valve controls the flow of liquid or gas from an IBC container. A steamable IBC valve is a specialized type designed for use in applications where the valve needs to be sanitized prior to use. Steamable IBC valves are typically made from materials that can withstand high temperatures and are designed to be easy to clean and maintain. They are commonly used in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and food and beverage industries, where maintaining a highly clean environment is critical.
Irradiation:
The purpose of irradiation in packaging is to eliminate the presence of microorganisms that may contaminate the packaged products. By subjecting the packaging materials to ionizing radiation, any bacteria on the packaging is damaged rendering them unable to reproduce and causing contamination. These radiation sources can penetrate packaging materials, such as plastics, films, and foils, to reach the target microorganisms. After the packaging materials or products are irradiated, they should be handled and stored in a controlled and clean environment to maintain their sanitation until they are used.
How is the quality of the product affected during processing?
