Proper Installation of IBC Liners Ensures Complete Evacuation
It is important to fill an intermediate bulk container liner correctly. There are proper steps to take when preparing the set-up. Following these steps will ensure that the installation goes smoothly and, most importantly, will avoid you from possible problems, such as:
- Incorrectly unfolding the liner
- Trapping the liner film behind the fitting
- Causing improper or incomplete evacuation of product
Before beginning this process, be mindful of a few general tips. Adhering to these while following the steps below will help avoid the potential issues mentioned above:
- Place liner in the bin correctly
- Avoid gaps in the corners of the bin
- Avoid folds in the liner that can block the dispense fitting, preventing proper and full product evacuation
- Avoid tools that can pinch or puncture the liner
Below are the key steps for filling an IBC liner.
Instructions for Top Filling an IBC Liner
- Prepare CL285
- Remove lid
- Unfold CL285
- Open drop door
- Insert the liner into the container
- Take liner from the carton box or bulk bin
- Place liner into the CL285 from the back
- Unfold the liner one part to the left, to the right, and to the back
- Insert the Din50 valve into the bottom discharge
- Verify all corners are square and aligned to prevent gaps and folds
- Close drop door
- Connect to fill bridge
- 3” or 2” fitting
- Place fill bridge on top of container
- Lock fill fitting into fill bridge
- Attach adapter
- Confirm all four corners are properly positioned, with no folds
- Confirm back of the liner is properly positioned to the back of the CL285
- Attach source and begin filling*
- During filling, verify no gaps
- If there are gaps or the need to correct the position of the liner, pull towards corners, laterally. Do NOT pull straight up.
- Once container is half-way full, check liner positioning; if corrections are needed, from the corners, push down and in (towards the center of the container) to reposition the liner
*NOTE: Do not stop the filling process; it is designed to fill 1000L in one go.
- Disconnect and secure lid
- Disconnect filling hose; remove adapter
- Insert the plug
- Remove the fill bridge
- Check for wrinkles and folds and clear excess film from being pinched by lid by “tucking” the liner in; liner should be tight with seams lined up in all four corners
- Remove air pockets at surface
- Secure plug tightly
- Attach lid
