Creams & Lotions Packaging
Bag-in-Box for Creams & Lotions Packaging
Bag-in-box packaging is most commonly associated with liquid products but can also adequately store and dispense more viscous liquids. Fitting to the name, bag-in-box packaging formats consist of a box outer shell and a flexible bag that holds the product within it. These flexible bags are fitted with spouts and dispensers to evacuate products. Some of the benefits associated with bag-in-box packaging include extending product shelf life, maximizing product evacuation, and minimal environmental impact. BIB design ensures consistent and controlled dispensing, while the airtight seal preserves the product’s quality, preventing contamination and extending shelf life.
Drum Liners for Creams & Lotions Packaging
For higher quantities of creams and lotions, drum liners are a common option. These semi-rigid solutions can be filled with product and then reused with new liners.
Drum Pumps: These are designed for liquids or viscous materials. A pump is inserted into the drum, and the material is pumped out into another container or directly into the manufacturing equipment.
Our liners are compatible with the use of drum wand pumps and follower plates. A pump is inserted into the drum, and the material is pumped out into another container or directly into the manufacturing equipment. A follower plate. A follower plate is a device used in the transfer of viscous products from drums, particularly when utilizing pneumatic or hydraulic pumps. It’s especially useful for materials that aren’t fluid enough to pour or pump out of a drum without assistance. Our drum liners are compatible with follower plates and pumps.
IBC Liners for Creams & Lotions Packaging
Intermediate bulk container (IBC) liners are bags designed to help ensure the purity of products so that the highest quality possible product can be delivered. CDF offers a variety of film solutions for IBC liners, including Form-Fit liners that fit snugly into bulk containers, Air-Assist® liners, pillow-shaped liners, our Defender® brand of liners, and more. Our liners are especially adept at maximizing product evacuation, with Air Assist boasting of a 99.5% evacuation rate. This makes them a superior choice for packaging creams and lotions.
Environmental Impact of CDF Solutions
Whether it’s bag-in-box packaging or IBC liners, one of the factors that all of these solutions have in common is sustainability. Many of the solutions offered by CDF are designed to be recyclable or reusable, which eliminates waste in landfills and makes better use of resources.
What’s more is that many of these solutions are lighter than their conventional counterparts, meaning more can be transported with less of an impact on the overall environment.
Bag-in-box packaging, Drum Liners, and IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) liners, have a strong sustainability profile due to several factors:
- Material Efficiency: These packaging solutions use less material compared to traditional methods. For instance, a bag-in-box uses less plastic or material than an equivalent number of individual f-style bottles or semi-rigid containers.
- Reduced Waste: By employing CDF liners to optimize product evacuation, the turnaround time for the container becomes nearly instantaneous. Our liners significantly reduce waste heading to landfills. The inner liner of an IBC or drum can be easily disposed of, allowing the exterior container to be reused multiple times. Additionally, they minimize product residue within, ensuring the liner can be discarded safely. With new emerging regulations like the 1″ rule, complete product evacuation from the packaging is essential. This efficient evacuation also minimizes the resources required to recondition the drum or stainless steel IBC.
- Transport Efficiency: These packaging solutions are lighter than their traditional counterparts. As a result, more products can be transported in the same amount of space, leading to fewer shipments and reduced transportation costs. This not only saves companies money but also results in less fuel consumption and fewer carbon emissions.
- Product Protection: Bag-in-box and IBC liners can provide excellent protection against external contaminants. This can lead to longer shelf life and reduced product waste, as the product inside remains uncontaminated and fresh for longer.
- Reduction in Carbon Footprint: With fewer materials needed for production and reduced transportation costs, the overall carbon footprint of these packaging methods can be considerably lower than more traditional methods.
Cost Savings of Sustainable Packaging
There’s more than just cost savings associated with sustainable packaging, especially when it comes to reusing versus buying brand new and saving on transportation costs due to lighter material. Sustainable packaging is just better for the environment and communities where we all live and work. What’s more is that with more and more consumers identifying a brand’s sustainability focus as a major reason behind whether they move forward with a purchase, using sustainable packaging can also become a marketing tactic.
